christmas-celebration

Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year when everyone is decked up with high spirit and enthusiasm. It is not just about the festival but the excitement of the New Year adds on to the realm. And to top it up, if you are recently married then there is much more a reason to celebrate and enjoy your togetherness. For a magical tint to the occasion, we have listed here 7 ways to make the most of occasion and start new family traditions of your own.

1) Carry forward family traditions

Its the best time to relive your childhood fantasies. Recall all those things that made Christmas special for you as child and find ways to twine them into your adult lives. It could be decorating your house with your favorite stuffs, preparing all the junk food that you would love to have but would refrain on a regular basis and restrict to just a few important occasions or watching out your favorite movie.

2) Start your own customs

Following age old traditions in your family is fun, but since you are starting your own family and creating your own new home, it is a nice idea to pick a few things that you can put into practice every year creating a tradition of your own. It could be as small as opening a secret gift on Christmas Eve to making a special meal of something that you two would enjoy as a couple.

3) Reorganize your memories

With the year-end approaching, it’s a great time to have a look back on how the year went by! Celebrate it, get your memories printed in photos, frame them and hang it around the places where you can cherish them and let them speak a story of yours that was created during the year.

4) Sing a Carol

You might not be an expert singer to be a part of the carol team, but singing old holiday carols in the comfort of your own living room has its own charm. This can be a part of your own tradition list, adding some romance to your life.

5) Plan your “WE” time

It can sometimes be a little tough to prioritize your relationship amidst all the festivities, family gatherings and celebrations. Make sure to set aside some time that’s for just the two of you, when you can reconnect without distractions, recollect on the past year, and plan together for the coming year.

6) Be crazy in your clicks

Surely you would love to pose as a perfect couple in all your clicks, but clicking a few goofy pics that are more humorous will bring a smile on your face year after year at every glance. Let your humorous and lighter side reflect through your pics to cherish forever.

7) Plan your travel and family commitments

In case you are travelling to celebrate your Christmas with your loved ones, you can still plan your personal time. Make a reservation at your favorite restaurant a few days in advance, so that you can get some alone time. In case your family lives nearby, you can plan mornings alone with your partner and evenings could be a family affair.

Kannada wedding in Karnataka

As we all know, the state of Karnataka has a population of people coming from all religion and background. Though the majority of the population of Karnataka is of Hindus, you will also find many Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, and Jain settled there. Unlike other Hindu Matrimony or Christian Matrimony,  the Kannada Matrimony rituals are an easy and a blissful event, which are usually vibrant.

The Kannada Matrimony Ceremony for the Hindu caste is a simple affair. The wedding rituals and customs of Kannada community are usually simple and modest. The major objective is to carry the rituals as per their culture. Below we are listing some quintessential Kannada weeding rituals:

Some Important Pre-wedding Ceremonies in Kannada Matrimony

There are many Kannada wedding rituals, which usually begins days before the wedding. The customs are usually held at both the bride and groom’s place.

The pre-wedding rituals begin with Nischay Tamulam. In this ritual, a formal agreement takes place and the alliance gets fixed. After this, the family of the bride and groom organize an engagement ceremony, where both the bride and groom exchange rings. Gifts and sweets also get exchanged between the families.

Another interesting and fascinating pre-wedding ritual is Kashiyatra Tradition. In this tradition, the groom pretends and act like he will leave his family and will go to Kashi to become a Brahmachari. On seeing this, all the family members try to convince him to not leave home by luring him with worldly goods. The groom then cancels his plan to leave home and decides to marry a girl.

Wedding Rituals in Kannada Matrimony

The Kannada wedding takes place during the daytime.  The Mandap is decorated with fresh, colorful flowers as well as lights. The wedding rituals start with a ritual known as Var Pooja, where the bride’s father welcomes the groom and wash his feet. The bride then arrives in the Mandap and is made to sit next to the groom. The Kannada bride wears  Navari, which is the traditional wedding attire along with green bangles and jasmine flowers to adorn the hair. Whereas the Kannada groom wears Silk dhoti and Kurta.

The next important ritual is Kanyadaan ritual, where the bride’s father takes her hand and places it on to the groom’s hand. Then he puts coconut and betel leaves on their hands followed by sprinkling holy water. This custom is also known as Dhare Herdu tradition. The groom then ties Mangalsutra around the bride’s neck and takes seven rounds around the holy fire also called yagna. This important ritual is called Saptapadi. This wedding ritual solemnizes the wedding, as after this ritual, the priest declares the bride and groom as man and wife.

After the wedding rites, the food gets served to all the guests and family members. Another interesting thing about Kannada marriage is that unlike other Indian matrimony, the food is served in a traditional style on banana leaves with guests sitting on the floor. After this comes the time of the Grihapravesh, where the bride enters the groom’s house and  is welcomed by her mother-in-law. The groom also gives a new name to the bride and beautifully writes it on a plate filled with rice using a finger ring.

If you are someone who is looking for a perfect Kannada matrimony match, then Lovevivah.com can surely help you find your perfect match.

Enchanting Ceremonies That Glorifies a Telugu Wedding

Appealing rituals that exalt Kamma wedding in India is a realm of culture and tradition, neither you nor I can deny that. And of all the holy customs, Telugu marriage tops the rank. This is because ‘A wedding’ is just not only a ceremony to unify a boy and girl in Telugu matrimony. It’s a promise of two endearing souls in heaven, hand-in-hand for a “Together forever” commitment and an exhilarating celebration of two families and well-wishers for a new beginning. So the occasion certainly deserves to be extremely grand and mind-blowing if I am not wrong. You can also take help of Telugu matrimony sites that help people to find desired  Telugu brides and groom.

Snathakam Ceremony for the Groom

This is a popular rite called Snathakam which is done prior to the wedding day in the house of the groom. The groom is asked to wear a sacred silver thread on his body referring the termination of his bachelorhood and accepts the responsibility of taking over the welfare and well being of the family. He is no more a one man and there is a family whom he should take care of, to be more precise, he is a family man from now on. Some people refer the custom as “Upanayanam”.

The Kashi Yatra Custom

This custom is a part of all Telugu weddings. In Tamil marriages this custom s known as Kashi Yatra. This custom adds joy to the viewers as the groom is asked to pretend as if he gets adamant in leaving for Kashi (a pilgrimage) and he is no more interested in marriage or any other earthly happiness. To add more to the fun the bride’s brother acts like pleading his brother-in-law to change his decision and sign the marital agreement with his sister to spend all his life with her.

Haldi Ceremony or Nalagu Rite

The ritual generally takes place in all states and is refered to with different names in different states. In Tamil marriage it is known as Nalagu, whereas north Indians refer it as the Haldi ceremony. The turmeric is smeared on the body of the bride and groom which signifies the rite performed for the purification of the bride and groom.

Viragudi Mokkadam

After ending all the customs at home, the groom sets off to step into the marriage hall. Before that a sacred visit to the temple is mandatory. Isn’t it? But No! This is not as ordinary as before. A big day deserves everything big and special. So is the temple visit. And the groom should worship it for everything to go well in his life. A coconut with turmeric and kumkum on its head will be broken in front of the divine statue of God or goddess. And the holy tradition successfully ends with a puja.

The Bride Arrives

Here comes the magical moment the groom will be longing for. You read it right! I meant the arrival of the bride. The maternal uncle of the girl accompanies her to the Mandap to bring together the couples made in heaven. A curtain will be placed in the middle of the bride and groom, a priest repeating the sacred mantras. Then, the tie knotting ceremony will take place, followed by the wedding rounds. The awesome moment begins with the priest giving Thali (Mangalsutra) to the groom reciting slogans beside. The holy thread that binds the two lives into one is placed right at the center of the bride’s chest. This is to indicate that the bride takes all her marital responsibilities and the love for her new family in her heart. Then they take seven wedding vows around the holy fire and it is believed that the couple is united in front of Panchabhutaalu (earth, air, water, fire, and sky). The customs and traditions hence demonstrate how solemn and vital a Telugu matrimony traditions are.
